I’m Caitlin

Birth changes you and I am passionate about honouring this transformation; providing a safe, welcoming space as you explore the feelings, emotions, challenges and wonderment of preparing to give birth.

I hold honest, relatable and engaging birth preparation sessions that combine hypnobirthing and mindfulness practices, providing you with both a deeper knowledge and understanding of how birth works alongside practical and emotional tools to support you in feeling confident, calm and clear about the birth you deserve.

I discovered hypnobirthing when I was pregnant with my first baby and a work colleague said ‘you should try hypnobirthing, I think you’ll like it’. 

I sold a piece of furniture to pay for the course and it was the best investment I made during my whole pregnancy. 

I didn’t really know anything about how my body worked in labour before I attend my first class and hadn’t given any thought to mindset work other than acknowledging I was pretty petrified about giving birth. By the end of the first session something had shifted and I had a new found deep respect and admiration for my birthing body and all that it is capable of. 

 

Hypnobirthing, it turns out, is way more than simply breathing. 

I learnt so much about my nervous system, the role of my hormones and how to advocate for myself (all life skills beyond the birth of my babies) … and ultimately found my vocation.

Away from all things birth, I'm can be found in or near the sea, having moved to Cornwall from London in early 2023. My eldest has additional needs and I find it helpful to share the wild twists and turns that being a SEN parent entails. As a family we are happiest when in nature, with my boys darting through the trees in the woods or leaping over waves at the beach. 

Supporting new parents as they prepare for birth and life with a newborn is my passion - I see this transition as a moment for deep personal growth in all aspects of your life.

 

Becoming a parent changes you and it is my intention that you go into this with knowledge, tools and the right mindset to help you feel ready for this new chapter.

what is hypnobirthing?

Let’s be honest, it could do with a rebrand. The name suggests it’s all swaying clocks and sleepwalking into your birth. I can assure you, it's absolutely neither of those things.

Hypnobirthing is an approach to birth preparation that begins by looking at your mindset and acknowledges that how we feel about birth is likely going to impact how our bodies behave in birth.

​Hypnobirthing encourages you to get curious about what is happening to your mind and body in labour and arms you with a tool kit of techniques designed to help you meet birth feeling calm, confident and in control.

Yes it’s all the things you may have heard about; breathing techniques, visualisations, affirmations, fear releasing, anchors, relaxation, hypnobirthing tracks – we will delve deep into each of these as part of the course. But these techniques work best when we understand what is going on in the brain and body so my sessions also include plenty of exploration around the physiology or birth, biomechanics and how to tend to our nervous system.

​Birth can be unpredictable but there is plenty we can do to prepare for it. Connecting to your self-trust, building your knowledge, getting a grasp of the maternity system and placing any decision-making power firmly with you and your birth partner is going to serve you so well, however your birth unfolds.
